Society Waters

  • We have six miles of the River Arun - all non tidal.

  • A specimen Tench water at Shillinglee in picturesque surroundings.

  • Superb Carp waters at Malthouse Lakes, Wisgorough Green.

 

 
 Our stretch of the River Arun begins at Bignor Bridge and goes dsown through Oakhurst to Rowner Mill.  This stretch has Carp to 20lbs, Tench (6lbs), shoals of Breamwith individuals to 6lbs, Chub (4lbs), Roach , Rudd, Gudgeon, Perch, Dace and Pike to 20lbs.

From Rowner Mill down to Newbrigde and Gildenhurst there is a good head of Chubb to a maximum of 7lbs, Bream (6lbs) and Roach (2.5lbs).  Most other species are also present.

Lordings down past the Lock to Lee Place weir has wide and narrow stretches and holds a good head of Bream, Chubb, Roach and Pike.

The River Arun at Newbridge  
 Our lake at Shillinglee is 2 miles from Northchapel near Petworth.  The 3.5 acre lake set in 5 acres of beautiful woodland is very picturesque with clearwaters to a depth of 14 fet.  This is one of the very best tech fisheries around, offering Tench over 6.5lbs, Carp over 20lbs, Pike to 19lbs.  The lake also holds good spciemens of other species notably Bream, Roach and Rudd
  Shillinglee Lake
 Malthouse Lakes at Wisborough Green consists of two lakes.  The top of four acres is up to10 feet and holds Common Carp up to 20lbs, Mirror Carp to 20lbs and Crusian Carp to 2.5lbs.  There is also a good head of Tench and good sized Pech.  There are no Pike in the lake.

Top Lake at Malthouse
The bottom lake of six acres is surrounded by woodland and holds Common and Mirror Carp to 20lbs, Crusians to 3lbs and plenty of Bream Roach and Rudd.  Like the top lake there are no Pike stocked.
