General Rules 

  1. The Society shall be called “The Billingshurst Angling Society”.
  2. The subscription of adult members to be £80.00.  Family Membership (2 Adults +2 children under 16) £100.00.  Juniors up to the age of 16 years £25.  Ladies £25.  Old age pensioners£25.00.  Disabled £25.00 and students £30.00.  Subscription to be paid on or before the 1st April each year and adult membership be limited to 450 persons.
  3. New members must be proposed and seconded by a voting Member of the Society.
  4. Seniors may sponsor one person for £5.00 per day if pre-notified to the Membership Secretary at least4 days in advance.  Tickets must first be obtained from the Membership or Match Secretary, and to be produced on demand at all club waters.
  5. A committee shall be elected annually to transact business in connection with the Society.
  6. No member shall be allowed to fish with more than one hook per rod ay any one time (snap tackle excepted) or fish on the river in the close season, viz. 15 March to 15 June (both days inclusive).
  7. No member shall take fish from the water with the exception of pike and eels.  All other fish to be returned to the water.
  8. Members are requested to keep to the footpaths and river banks and in no way damage growing grass, crops or underwoods, shut all gates after them and take no dogs.  No camping or lighting of fires is allowed.
  9. Members have the right to challenge any person or persons fishing in the Society’s waters and remove any who cannot produce a current Membership Card.
  10. All members must hold a E.A Rod Licence and comply with the bye-laws.
  11. All members are responsible for the removal of any litter on their peg, regardless of its origin.
  12. Any Members found to be infringing any of the rules are liable to be dismissed from the Society.
  13. No night fishing shall be allowed on the river or at Malthouse Lakes (sunset to sunrise).
  14. When parking at the Haybourne car park at Lee Place as B.A.S. parking disc must be displayed.

Additional Rules for Matches 

1.        All matches have to be fished as Roamers or peg downs with 25 yards between anglers or on pegged positions, and that the Match Secretary, or his representative, reserves the right to amend or add to the rules up to the time of the draw on all matches.

2.        Competitors may have in use one rod and line, and one hook, at any one time, but may have other rods assembled. All baits may be used except live or dead fish, spinning baits or artificial lures.

3.        Competitors must not leave rod and line in the water, or in the charge of any other person, must play and land their own fish except in the case of disablement. All fish may be weighed except Pike.

4.        No competitor shall be "weighed in" who has litter lying on the banks of his swim. The individual weight of competitors shall be recorded to the nearest 4 drams.

5.        Any complaints must be registered with the steward within one hour of the completion of the match.

6.        Match venues, fished as "Roamers" may not be fished by competitors 24 hours prior to that match, except in the case of a change of venue as listed in the fixtures.

7.        Plumbing of swim is permitted prior to the start of match.

8.        All cups and trophies are to be cleaned and returned to the Match Secretary by the first week in February. Any damage incurred will be the responsibility of the holder.

9.        Any competitor infringing the above rules will be immediately disqualified from the match. 

ADDITIONAL LAKE RULES 

1.        Cars are to be parked at specified points.

2.        Fishing must be from pegged positions only. 

3.        No tins or cans of any sort to be taken to the lake or adjoining land. In the case of canned food, drinks or baits, they must be transferred to suitable non disposable containers prior to arrival at the lakes or car parking areas.

 

Malthouse Lakes  Wisborough Green 

Except in the case of competitions all carp must be immediately returned to the water from 'I st April until 31 st October, these dates inclusive. Silver fish may be retained year round. Keepnets of the polymesh or micromesh type with a minimum length of 8 feet will be permitted. 

Shillinglee

Night fishing will be by prior arrangement only by applying to the Membership Secretary in WRITING not less than 7 days in advance, for a fee of £5.00 payable in advance. No angler may occupy a swim for more than 24 hours. Alternatively, a night season ticket is available at the cost of £30.00 from the membership secretary.
